Gingerbread Head Christmas Treat Bags

Monday, November 17, 2014

I should not have made a comment about life settling a bit two weeks ago, as things got quite hectic after that!! I had a few unexpected events arise (nothing serious at all, but just the sort of things that altered my plans). One of those events was a trip to visit my daughter at uni. Her computer was on its last legs and then she spilled tea on the keyboard. I'd planned to get her a new laptop for Christmas so decided to head to visit her on the weekend to give her an early present. It was such a treat to see her and spend the day together. On our way home, my husband and I stopped in Toronto to see the Raptors play the Utah Jazz (basketball). We had an amazing time together, but now I'm feeling even further behind!! (It was worth it.)

With family, work, essays to grade and visits to my mum (and daughter!), I haven't done any crafting since my last project two weeks ago. It was nice to get back into my craft room to create. This week's challenge at My Craft Spot is 3-D Christmas. I saw some cute little bags at SVG Cutting Files and thought they'd be fun to make AND give away! I switched things up a bit as I don't care much for the "hair" on the boy file - but that's one of the joys of SVGs and personalizing cuts.

I used my Silhouette to cut the pieces and embossed the little bowties. After assembling the bags (six of them!), I used Tiny Tags metal dies for the little tags. Each one is stamped with the "Happy Christmas" sentiment from the NEW Tiny Tags Christmas stamp set. I also added a silver star to each. I used Small Alphabet metal dies to cut the stars. I finished everything off with some Green Twist baker's twine.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the other lovely 3-D Christmas projects that my design team sisters have made. Plus, be sure to link up your own project for a chance to win this week's $10US gift certificate to the My Craft Spot Shop.

Have a fabulous week!

I hear you, I have been struggling to find balance lately. I have had changes that I knew were coming, but things in life seem to keep getting more hectic and just when I thinkI have a break to breath and regroup something throws it all off. I totally hear you...even if it's good and worth it...it takes balance.

I can't begin to tell you how I flipped whenI saw these cuties. You did an amazing time for not having a lot of time on your hand. They totally make me giddy with delight, so I am really jelly of who gets one! Hope you have a GREAT week!

These turned out adorable Kate! The faces are so sweet~awesome treat bags!
I hope things settle down for you Kate. I can really relate to your situation also. It's been a hectic summer for us and now we are helping my daughter and son in law with striping and staining all their floors in her home before baby #2 comes in February. Any spare time I have been going back home to help my Dad who has been having some health issues so it seems like my days are totally consumed.
Oh well, I guess it's called life, right? I am looking for a tiny break though, hehe!
Take care my friend,
Sherrie K

My dear friend, these are the most precious gingerbread bags ever! :o) I can't get over their adorable little faces! You did such a spectacular job and I love the sweet tiny tags and embossed bow ties. :o) These will be LOVED by the blessed recipients!

I am glad you had some special time with your daughter.. I know she treasured it equally! I hope things calm down a bit for you soon. It can be tough to keep a crafty spirit going during these busy days, only because 'rushed' crafting tinkers with the creativity! At least for me. :/ Your work is always amazing and always fills my heart with joy. Lovely work, my cherished friend!

Hugs and blessings,
Karen

I totally understand how "things" get in the way of crafting, Kate, but taking care of family is so important. These little ginger goodies are so cute. I've gotten away from cutting things (have not used my Cricut in ages) but still enjoy seeing what you do.
